Cox Medical Center Branson is pleased to announce that Jennifer L. Freeman, MD, FAAP, has joined Cox Branson’s incredible team of providers.
As a pediatrician, Dr. Freeman has received specialized training to care for newborns through adolescence. Dr. Freeman’s 15 years of experience includes outpatient care, inpatient management, attending deliveries and running a level 2 NICU. Dr. Freeman will be seeing patients at the CoxHealth Family Medicine – Branson Hwy 248 clinic, as well as caring for pediatric patients in the hospital and attending deliveries as needed.
“I couldn’t ask for a better job,” Dr. Freeman said. “I absolutely love getting to work with children every day. When I was a child and I’d get the question, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up,’ my response was always, ‘I want to be a pediatrician.’ I grew up in a small town in south central Kansas. There were no female doctors, and certainly no pediatricians. As a kid, I thought it would be really nice to have someone just for me. As a pediatrician, I have been trained in providing well-child care as well as acute care and treatment of chronic illnesses that oftentimes affect kids differently than adults. There are also a lot of illnesses that come up in adolescence that you just don’t see in the adult population.”
“Dr. Freeman is an incredible asset to our team and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in caring for young patients,” said Brock Shamel, director of clinics, regional services, clinic administration. “Her passion for caring for children is evident in everything she does and we are thrilled she has chosen to practice at Cox Branson.”
Dr. Freeman was working in the Kansas City area when she discovered the opportunity to come to Branson.
“I have met the nursing staff and I have toured the facilities and I can tell you it is all top notch here,” Dr. Freeman said. “Of course, I’m excited to be living in Branson. I used to come to Branson every year with family and have always enjoyed the area. I love the fact that Branson has that friendly small town feel, but many of the conveniences you normally only find in larger towns. This makes it a really nice place to live.”
When not working, Dr. Freeman enjoys crafts, cooking, spending time with her family and playing with her dog Lucy.
